The Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago is known for its use of the traditional, European hands on approach to culinary education. Founded in 1983, the school's mission is to prepare students for a successful culinary career in the food service and hospitality industries. The school recently affiliated with Le Cordon Bleu, the standard for culinary excellence.

Degree Programs and Courses of Study

The Institute offers two culinary education programs -- an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts, and a program in Baking and Pastry arts.

Associate of Applied Science Degree in Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts

Le Cordon BleuThis program provides theory and hands on experience in culinary skills, baking and pastry, and management. Course work includes over 450 Le Cordon Bleu proficiencies. After receiving their degrees, students are prepared to start a rewarding culinary career in a variety of positions in the food service industry.

Associate of Applied Science in Le Cordon Bleu Patisserie and Baking

The Patisserie and Baking and Pastry program at CHIC prepares the graduate for positions at hotels, in-store bakeries, or other locations with baking production facilities. The program provides an overview of the theories and techniques of the culinary profession, with focused courses in the pastry arts and baking skills.

The Cooking and Hospitality Institute is located in downtown Chicago, Illinois. This urban setting provides students with a variety of educational and recreational opportunities in the Windy City.
